NPP Endorses Robert Kasibante for Presidency

The National Peasants Party (NPP) has taken a decisive step toward the next general elections as the party leadership officially endorsed Robert Kasibante as its presidential candidate.

The endorsement came during an executive council meeting, where NPP president Stecia Mayanja urged members to unite behind Kasibante. She praised his dedication to uplifting ordinary citizens, particularly women and youth, through various livelihood initiatives.

In his acceptance speech, Kasibante pledged to prioritize grassroots voices and national unity. “Politics should not be about fights or divisions but about guiding the nation toward a better future. The NPP is committed to raising the voices of ordinary citizens in every region of Uganda,” he said.

Kasibante further invited Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko and other political leaders to join NPP. He stressed that the party had a clear agenda and stood ready to offer “meaningful leadership.”

NPP Secretary General Sharif Sentongo Nambaale also addressed members, urging them to remain focused on party objectives. He accused rival opposition parties of wasting energy on internal disputes rather than addressing pressing national concerns. In addition, he criticized politicians who frequently change sides, calling on “confused” members of the ruling NRM to cross over to NPP.

At the close of the meeting, Kasibante received the party’s official symbol—the Pen—which he will carry during his campaign.

Kasibante, once a member of the ruling NRM, previously contested for the Busujju County parliamentary seat before officially joining NPP. His endorsement now positions the party as a more competitive force in the upcoming elections.
