Over 43,000 Shortlisted for Government Jobs After PSC Screening

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has released the government jobs Uganda shortlist, naming 43,123 candidates who qualified for the next stage. A total of 81,873 people had applied, but more than 38,000 failed to meet the minimum requirements.

The recruitment targeted 277 positions in 18 ministries, departments, and agencies. According to PSC Chairperson Winnie Agnes Kabogoza Musoke, shortlisted candidates will take written aptitude tests on Monday. Those who pass will then attend oral interviews before final appointments are made.

“We ran an internal advert between June 23 and July 21. It attracted 81,873 applicants for 277 posts in 18 government entities. Of these, 43,123 met the short-listing criteria,” Ms Kabogoza explained. She stressed that the exercise is part of a government plan to reduce staffing gaps in public institutions.

The Commission published the final shortlist on September 1 and uploaded it to its official website. Applicants who missed the cut received two weeks to appeal. Ms Kabogoza revealed that the Commission has already received around 400 appeals, which the Secretary is currently reviewing.

For the thousands who qualified, the government jobs Uganda shortlist opens a pathway into public service. For those who did not, the appeals process offers a final chance. As the aptitude tests begin, attention now shifts to how many candidates will succeed in securing government positions.
