Government Chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa has warned the public against referring to Omicron as a simple illness.
He said this while representing President Yoweri Museveni during the burial of former MP for Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality Gordon Arinda Cowboy.
He said Arinda who died of COVID-19 should be a good deterrent for the people to know that it kills.
“I am very disappointed with some people I am seeing here at the burial of a Covid-19 victim, who are not putting on masks. Stop taking your lives for granted,” Tayebwa said.
He warned that should the capacity of ICU beds in the country be occupied up to 50%, there will be no option but to go back into lockdown.
