September 20, 2023

Victoria University has extended a helping hand to Fred Kasavu, the son of the late singer and actress Evelyn Love (Evelyn Lagu), offering him an opportunity to continue his studies at the university. Kasavu had to leave school due to financial challenges resulting from his mother’s health condition.

Evelyn Lagu, whose real name was Evelyn Nakabira, battled kidney and heart complications for several years, requiring costly medical treatment. Her passing on September 18, 2023, left her son facing difficulties in continuing his education.

The vice-chancellor of Victoria University, Lawrence Mugaga, expressed his condolences for the loss of Evelyn Lagu and emphasized the importance of helping one another. He invited Fred Kasavu to join the university whenever he wishes to complete his studies.

This gesture from Victoria University provides hope for Fred Kasavu’s educational journey during a challenging time.

Evelyn Lagu is scheduled to be laid to rest on September 20, 2023, in Kalungu, Masaka district, at 2:00 PM.
