Top 10 richest men in the world: With a massive $274 billion net worth, the co-founder and leader of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, is finishing the year on a high by being the richest business tycoon in the world. Here’s a look at the top 10 finishers.

We are all set to bid adieu to 2021, but we cannot say goodbye without a proper recapitulation. That’s why we decided to create an article weaving around inspiration by highlighting business tycoons who are finishing the year with massive net worth. They are not only here to inspire but to help you dream to achieve heights. Though Reliance chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani failed to make the presence in the top 10 list, he anchored at the 12th spot to inspire the Indians all around the world.

Out of the top 10 richest businessmen in the world in 2021, 9 were from the United States and only one from France. Here’s looking at the top 10 business tycoons who are finishing the year with some massive net worth.

1) Elon Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk topped the list with a real-time net worth of $274 billion as of December 27, 2021. In February 2021, after Musk’s rocket-producing company SpaceX received a fresh round of funding, it was valued at $74 billion. He stepped down as the Tesla Chairman in 2018.

2) Jeff Bezos

The e-commerce giant Amazon’s executive chairman Jeff Bezos is the second richest man in the world with a real-time net worth of $197 billion as of December 27, 2021. He was the CEO and founder of Amazon but on July 5, 2021, Bezos stepped down as the CEO and became the executive chairman. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Amazon’s revenue grew by $386 billion.

3) Bernard Arnault & Family

Chairman and CEO of  LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Bernard Arnault is the third richest man in the world with a real-time net worth of $195.8 billion as of December 27, 2021. In January this year, LVMH hit the headlines by making the biggest luxury brand acquisition ever by completing a deal for American jeweler Tiffany & Co for a massive $15.8 billion.

4) Bill Gates

The co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, is the fourth richest man in the world with a real-time net worth of $137.3 billion as of December 27, 2021. After stepping down from the Microsoft board in 2020, Bill Gates is focussing on zero-carbon energy investing and philanthropy. To date, Bill Gates has donated $35.8 billion of Microsoft stocks to the foundation.

5) Larry Page

Larry Page, who stepped down as the CEO of Alphabet in 2019, is the fifth richest man in the world with a real-time net worth of $125.3 billion as of December 27, 2021. He co-founded Google with Sergey Brin in 1998. Currently, Larry Page is the founding investor of Planetary Resources and is also investing in startups like Kitty Hawk and Opener.

6) Larry Ellison

Oracle co-founder, chairman and CTO Larry Ellison is the sixth richest man in the world with a real-time net worth of $122.5 billion as of December 27, 2021. He owns a 35% stake in the company and also owns 3 million shares in Tesla that he bought in December 2018. He stepped down as the CEO of Oracle in 2014.

7) Sergey Brin

Sergey Brin, who stepped down as the president of Alphabet in December 2019, is the seventh richest man in the world with a real-time net worth of $120.7 billion as of December 27, 2021. He co-founded Google with larry Pagein 1998. Sergey Brin still remains a controller shareholder and a board member of Google’s parent company. It is reported that Sergey Brin is also funding a high-tech airship project.

8) Mark Zuckerberg

After starting the social media platform Facebook in 2004, at the age of 19, Mark Zuckerberg took in public in 2012. He owns 12% of the company’s stock; however, he and his wife Priscilla Chan, pledged to give away 99% of their Facebook stake over their lifetimes. Mark Zuckerberg is the eighth richest man in the world with a real-time net worth of $119.9 billion as of December 27, 2021.

9) Warren Buffett

Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett is the ninth richest man in the world with a real-time net worth of $107.2 billion as of December 27, 2021. His Berkshire Hathaway owns more than 60 companies including the battery maker Duracell and insurer Geico. To date, Warren Buffett has donated $45 billion to the Gates Foundation and has pledged to donate over 99% of his wealth over his lifetime.

10) Steve Ballmer

The former CEO of Microsoft and Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is the tenth richest man in the world with a real-time net worth of $105.4 billion as of December 27, 2021. He brought NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers for $2 billion the same year he retired from Microsoft. In the year 2018, Steve invested $59 million in a company that makes software for nonprofits and government agencies.
