Geoffrey Hinton, a renowned figure in the artificial intelligence (AI) field, has resigned from Google and expressed concerns about the dangers posed by the rapid advancements in AI.
Hinton, known for his pioneering research on deep learning and neural networks, has warned that AI chatbots could soon surpass human intelligence, raising concerns about the potential misuse of such technology by bad actors.
He also highlighted the key difference between biological and digital systems, with the latter having the ability to learn separately and share knowledge instantly, resulting in chatbots knowing much more than any one person.
Hinton stressed that he did not want to criticize Google and that the company had been “very responsible” in its approach to AI.
