Police raiding Kyadondo Rugby club

Police on Friday evening raided popular hangout rugby joint, Kyadondo Rugby club and ordered its immediate closure after they found revellers at the bar enjoying their drinks.

Several of the revellers scampered for their safety when the team of police officers from Jinja Road police station raided the bar.

No arrests were made but police ordered for its immediate closure.

The raid caught many revellers unaware.

On Monday, Health Minister Ruth Aceng noted that bars would remain closed noting that in countries that have proceeded to a second lockdown phase, bars and discotheques have been identified as focal areas of spread.

“Considering the phase of the epidemic, Uganda has registered rising cases and deaths, in urban areas, the suspension on bars and discotheques will continue,” Aceng warned.

Despite her warning, several revellers still throng drinking joints. Ironically as police raided Kyadondo, just above it in Kololo a bar there continues operating till in the wee hours of the night.
