Former State Minister and Philanthropist Patrick Aloysius Okumu Ringa Passes Away

Patrick Aloysius Okumu Ringa, a former State Minister for Public Service and renowned business philanthropist, has sadly passed away this morning after a prolonged illness.

Ringa, who also served as a Member of Parliament for Padyere County from 2001 to 2006, left behind a legacy of entrepreneurship, community development, and generous contributions towards education and the Church. His passing is mourned by family, friends, and the Ugandan community as a whole.

Family sources have confirmed that Okumu Ringa suffered a stroke four years ago and had been residing at his home in Naguru throughout his illness. State Minister for Northern Uganda, Ms. Grace Kwiyucwiny, also conveyed the news of Ringa’s demise, expressing her condolences and promising further updates on the arrangements.

A Philanthropic Entrepreneur: Okumu Ringa’s journey to prominence began in the business world, with the establishment of Afro Motors. Through his entrepreneurial endeavors, he created a business empire that enabled him to venture into various industries. Notably, he founded the Aroma Tea processing company and opened multiple business shops in Nebbi town and Kampala, providing employment opportunities to the youth. His business success played a significant role in earning him popularity and eventually led to his election as a Member of Parliament.

Commitment to Education and the Church: During his tenure as an MP, Okumu Ringa demonstrated a deep commitment to education by sponsoring over 100 students at various levels in Padyere County. His generous contributions aimed to empower young individuals with educational opportunities, emphasizing the importance of knowledge and skills development.

Additionally, he dedicated himself to supporting the Church, most notably through his involvement in the construction of Nebbi Cathedral. Okumu Ringa, alongside his family, regularly prayed at the cathedral, showcasing his devotion and his desire to contribute to the spiritual welfare of the community.

Aside from his political and business achievements, Okumu Ringa was widely recognized as the majority shareholder in Afro Motors, a company specializing in the importation of Peugeot vehicles.
