Pakistani National Arrested in Uganda for Allegedly Killing Wife, Concealing Body in Septic Tank

July 18, 2023

Authorities have arrested a Pakistani national identified as Waeed Taheed on suspicion of murdering his wife, Monica Nabukenya, and hiding her remains in a septic tank. The disturbing event took place in Mpigi District.

According to the police, the case began when Taheed reported his wife missing on July 16, 2023. Their investigation quickly took a grim turn when it was revealed that Taheed suspected his wife of infidelity. In response, he took their six-month-old child for a DNA test, which yielded negative results, deepening his suspicions.

Police statements indicate that upon returning home, Taheed engaged in confrontations with his wife, leading to a tragic turn of events. Allegedly, in a fit of anger or distress, Taheed decided to end his wife’s life and disposed of her body in a septic tank located on their property. To conceal the crime, he partially covered the corpse with soil.

During the course of the police investigation, Taheed was taken to his residence, where officers were met with a repugnant odor emanating from the property. Their subsequent search led them to the septic tank, where they discovered the decomposing body of Nabukenya. Subsequently, Taheed reportedly confessed to the crime, citing the negative DNA test results as a motive for his actions.

Richard Ddumba, the chairperson of Kalagala Village, Kayabwe Town Council, shed light on the couple’s troubled relationship. Ddumba revealed that rumors of the child’s paternity had caused significant strain between Taheed and Nabukenya. Taheed had even expressed his desire for a divorce four months prior to the incident.

It is alleged that Taheed had filed for divorce, although the court had not yet reached a verdict at the time of the gruesome murder.

The exact date of the tragic event is believed to be either Thursday or Friday, according to Ddumba’s statements.

As the investigation continues, Taheed remains in police custody, awaiting further legal proceedings. The authorities are working diligently to gather all the necessary evidence in this harrowing case.

The community and local residents are left in shock and mourning over this devastating loss of life. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing conflicts in a non-violent manner and seeking support in times of distress.
