Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. Arinaitwe Gilbert Bwana, famous for his involvement in the violent attack on former FDC president Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye during the 2011 “walk to work” protests, is now facing fresh allegations. He is currently under investigation in a rape case involving a housemaid at his residence in Nalumumye, Rubaga division.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, they are looking into claims of rape made by a 23-year-old maid, who alleges that Mr. Bwana repeatedly assaulted her at gunpoint. The police have registered a rape case under reference number 688/2023 at Nateete Police Division. However, no arrests have been made at this time.
The victim stated that the first incident occurred on the night of July 25th when she was raped at gunpoint. Mr. Arinaitwe Bwana is known to possess a firearm, as he was redeployed in 2015 and promoted to the rank of ASP.
The maid further revealed that she was held captive within the house and subjected to multiple assaults without access to basic necessities like food and water. Additionally, she claims that Mr. Bwana refused to pay her monthly salary.
When approached by the press for a comment, Mr. Bwana arrogantly dismissed the reporter’s questions, telling them to “keep in your lane” and allow the police to conduct their investigation.
Sources close to the case disclosed that Mr. Gilbert Bwana has already provided his statement to the authorities.
