KCCA looking for Garbage Recycling Solution

Kampala Capital City Authority is actively in pursuit of an investor to delve into waste-to-energy projects, aiming to tackle the predicament of landfill overflow, particularly evident at the saturated Kiteezi landfill in Wakiso. As the Kiteezi site reaches its maximum capacity and encounters opposition from the community regarding the proposed alternative site in Ddundu, Mukono district, the city is exploring sustainable avenues. Kyofatogabye Kabuye, the State Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, highlights ongoing dialogues with community leaders in Mukono and Wakiso to obtain approval for the Ddundu facility. Simultaneously, the persistence of uncollected waste in various parts of Kampala remains a pressing issue.
