A Naivasha train bus collision on Thursday left at least four people dead and several others injured. The crash happened at a railway crossing in central Kenya.
The Kenya Pipeline Company confirmed that its staff bus was involved. It was carrying employees finishing their morning shift at a training centre near Naivasha. “All injured staff have been evacuated to hospitals within Naivasha for medical attention,” the company said. It also announced plans to airlift those in critical condition.
Emergency teams worked through the wreckage to rescue survivors. A Red Cross worker told Reuters that four bodies had been recovered so far. The Kenya Pipeline Company did not provide an exact number of casualties. However, The Standard newspaper cited a police commander who reported at least six deaths and dozens injured.
Witnesses gathered at the scene as authorities cleared the area and began investigations. The tragic incident has renewed calls for improved railway crossing safety measures in Kenya.
