TowerCo of Africa Uganda, formerly known as Ubuntu Towers, has revealed its new identity, solidifying its commitment to redefine connectivity in Uganda. The rebranding was officially announced yesterday by TOA Uganda’s CEO, Geoffrey Donnels Oketayot, and Stephane Beuvelet, CEO of TowerCo of Africa.

TowerCo of Africa (TOA), a fully owned subsidiary of AXIAN Telecom, acquired Ubuntu Towers in 2021, a move that marked the company’s dedication to expanding its presence in the Ugandan market. As part of the rebranding process, TowerCo of Africa Uganda now operates with 90% ownership by TOA. With a workforce of over 400 direct and indirect employees, the company takes pride in its commitment to environmentally friendly practices, as 70% of its sites are powered by solar energy, utilizing green infrastructure.

Geoffrey Donnels Oketayot, CEO of TowerCo of Africa Uganda, expressed his enthusiasm for the company’s new chapter, stating, “We are thrilled to officially unveil TowerCo of Africa Uganda and embark on this exciting journey. This rebranding signifies the positive legacy of Ubuntu Towers while marking a pivotal milestone in our evolution. Our goal is to become the leading provider of green passive infrastructure solutions in Uganda.”

During the rebranding event, attended by esteemed dignitaries and business leaders, TowerCo of Africa Uganda celebrated its market impact since its establishment in 2020. The company’s team expressed their gratitude to their partners for contributing to the benefits experienced by the Ugandan people through enhanced connectivity.

As a company committed to sustainable development, TowerCo of Africa Uganda has made significant strides in reducing its environmental impact. With nearly 360 towers already installed, the majority of which utilize hybrid energy solutions, the company aims to further increase this number in the coming years. These initiatives have resulted in positive contributions to various sectors, including education, e-health, e-farming, logistics, and transport.

Stephane Beuvelet, CEO of TowerCo of Africa, commended Uganda’s progressive regulations and ambitious, innovative population. He expressed delight in collaborating with partners to deliver enhanced services, thereby contributing to a better-connected and sustainable Uganda. Beuvelet expressed confidence in Uganda’s potential to lead in the realm of green-powered passive telecoms infrastructure.

The management team of TowerCo of Africa Uganda, led by co-founders Geoffrey Donnels Oketayot (CEO), George Ssamula (CLO), Ronald Onzia (COO), Mark Otai (CFO), and Harold Luzinda (CCO), brings a wealth of experience in various fields, including engineering, business, operations management, and law. Together, they form a visionary leadership team poised to shape the future of sustainable passive telecoms infrastructure and lead Uganda’s journey into the digital age.

The rebranding of TowerCo of Africa Uganda signifies the company’s dedication to advancing sustainable connectivity in the country. As it forges ahead with a renewed identity, the company remains committed to delivering exceptional telecommunications solutions that propel communities, businesses, and the economy towards meaningful growth. The successful rebranding event highlights the company’s focus on promoting eco-friendly practices and fostering a better-connected and sustainable Uganda.
