MUKONO-UGANDA | Joseph Sserwadda, a former soldier of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), was found deceased in his home in Mukono district on Saturday morning. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation by local authorities.
According to preliminary reports, a domestic worker discovered Sserwadda unresponsive in his bedroom around 6:00 AM. The worker stated that she had attempted to contact Sserwadda earlier but received no answer. Upon entering his room, she observed a white substance emanating from his mouth.
Police experts suspect that Sserwadda may have been poisoned with cyanide, a highly lethal substance. The potential source of the poison is believed to be his last meal or drink.
Relatives of the deceased have suggested that Sserwadda’s death may be linked to ongoing disagreements with government officials. A family member, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that Sserwadda had expressed concerns about threats from individuals with whom he had unresolved disputes. The relative indicated that attempts to reach a compromise had been unsuccessful.
However, local police authorities have cautioned against drawing hasty conclusions based on speculation. They have emphasized their commitment to a thorough investigation and have assured the public that they will pursue all leads to identify and apprehend any individuals responsible for the crime.
“We will not rely on rumors or speculation,” a police spokesperson stated. “Our investigation will be based on evidence and expert analysis. We will ensure that justice is served, and those responsible for this heinous act are brought to book.”
As the investigation unfolds, further details about the circumstances surrounding Sserwadda’s death are expected to emerge.
