TikTok has apologized for issues that affected US users over the weekend. Downdetector reported more than 600,000 complaints about the video-sharing app. Users reported problems, such as videos reappearing on their “For You” feeds and some content not displaying. Others complained about new posts getting “zero views,” with some continuing to face issues on Monday.
What Caused the TikTok Outage?
The issues arose due to a power outage at one of TikTok’s US data centers. The company, now overseen by TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, said it was “working to restore our services.” It is collaborating with Oracle, its data center partner, to stabilize the service. In a post on platform X, TikTok apologized, saying, “We’re sorry for this disruption and hope to resolve it soon.”
Oracle, however, declined to comment on the outage.

Concerns About TikTok’s New Ownership
The outages raised concerns among users about changes following TikTok’s new ownership deal with Oracle. Many wondered if the glitches were caused by upcoming modifications to the US app’s algorithm. Users began complaining of feed issues on Sunday. Downdetector saw 663,061 reports from US users between Saturday and Monday, with some reporting a complete outage.
The number of complaints decreased overnight Sunday, but issues resumed for some users on Monday. CapCut, a video editing app owned by TikTok, also faced similar reports of problems.
User Reactions to the Issues
US TikTok users took to other social media platforms to share their frustrations. One user posted, “Okay, so is anyone else’s TikTok being extremely slow, keeps showing you old videos, doesn’t show you what you actually search, and doesn’t load certain stuff?” Others reported trouble accessing creator tools, including those showing their earnings from TikTok’s advertising revenue.
Some videos uploaded by creators were stuck at “zero views,” and creators were unable to access analytics as they usually could.
Oracle’s Role in TikTok’s US Operations
As part of President Trump’s deal, Oracle now plays a larger role in TikTok’s US operations. Oracle is tasked with managing US user data and reviewing TikTok’s algorithm for American users. Oracle, a key managing investor, holds a 15% stake in TikTok’s US entity, TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC. It is also responsible for securing the data of US users under the security plan called Project Texas.
