KAMPALA – The newly appointed Premier, Robinah Nabbanja has applauded city tycoon Hamis Kiggundu for giving a hand in the fight against escalating coronavirus in Uganda.

Early this month, helpful and youthful businessman Ham donated Shs530m for purchase of 15000 doses of covid-19 vaccines.

According to him, 5000 doses will be utilised by his employees and tenants and the rest will be used other Ugandans.

“It is time to give back to Ugandans. Let us save lives. For God and my country,” said Kiggundu at the Uganda Media Center.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Nabbanja lauded Ham for such a good giving heart, calling other business people to emulate him.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank a city young man, Hamis Kiggundu. He has made a big contribution, he wants to vaccinate all his staff in his companies. He has also made a contribution of ten thousand (10,000) vaccines so that we vaccinate Ugandans, he is fighting Covid,” she said.

“I want to call upon all those Ugandans and non-Ugandans to take example of Kiggundu,” she said adding that the government cannot fight this alone.

Ham also earlier on called upon the business private sector especially fellow businessmen, landlords, employers, corporate giants and service providers to stand together and save lives of fellow Ugandans in this covid-19 time.

This is not the first time Ham standing with Ugandans. In 2020, through his Ham Foundation, he donated Shs100 million in cash towards the food relief distribution program that was targeting vulnerable people affected by the Covid-19 lockdown.

The young tycoon handed over the cash to then Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda who flagged off distribution of food relief in Kampala.

Kiggundu later said he was pleased to help the needy during this trying time.
