Angry Miao, a company known for its extravagant mechanical keyboard designs, has now ventured into gaming mice with a device that’s just as bold and unconventional. The AM Infinity Mouse is an ultra-lightweight gaming mouse with a magnesium-alloy skeletonized shell, weighing just 49 grams. This makes it one of the lightest full-size gaming mice on the market.
Beyond its striking open-frame design, the Infinity Mouse features a hot-swappable magnetic battery, a key highlight that allows for instant battery replacement. A spare battery remains charged on the 2.4GHz receiver, ensuring continuous play without downtime. Angry Miao claims this system provides “infinite” battery life—much like a fridge that never runs out of ice.
Cutting-Edge Performance & Design
The Infinity Mouse is built for high-performance gaming. It boasts an 8,000Hz polling rate, minimizing input lag even on high-refresh-rate monitors. Equipped with a PixArt PAW3950 optical sensor, it delivers up to 30,000 DPI, allowing for extreme sensitivity adjustments. The TTC Orange Dot Optical V2 micro switches provide crisp tactile clicks, ensuring precise actuation regardless of where you press on the left or right mouse buttons.
The side buttons in the pre-production model feature a transparent blue design, but final production units will have black buttons. Angry Miao expects to ship the Infinity Mouse in June following its successful Kickstarter campaign, which launched at $125 as an early-bird special.
Connectivity & Battery Life
The Infinity Mouse offers three connectivity options:
- 2.4GHz wireless, via its RGB-lit dongle
- Bluetooth mode for versatility
- USB-C wired mode, reducing weight to just 39 grams when used without a battery
Angry Miao claims 17 hours of continuous use at 8,000Hz polling before needing a battery swap. Reducing the polling rate to 1,000Hz extends the battery life to 43 hours. The wireless receiver puck features RGB lighting, which displays the charging status when swapping batteries.
Aesthetics & Ergonomics: A Polarizing Design
The open-frame construction is one of the Infinity Mouse’s most divisive aspects. Unlike most lightweight mice that use a honeycomb shell, this design eliminates as much material as possible, leaving behind only a bare-bones metal frame. Inspired by the Lotus Evanora concept car and the 1970s Lotus Type 79 F1 race car, it resembles a piece of automotive art for your desk.
However, the ultra-minimalist design may not be comfortable for everyone. While users with average-sized hands may find it fits well, those with smaller hands or a palm-resting grip might experience discomfort. Additionally, the open-frame structure exposes internal components to dust and debris, a potential downside for some users.
A Unique Alternative to Traditional Charging Solutions
While wireless charging solutions like the Logitech G Powerplay exist, they come with added costs and require a wired charging mat. In contrast, the Infinity Mouse’s magnetic battery swap system provides a wire-free experience while keeping the charging station discreet at the edge of your desk.
Traditional wireless mice with AA or AAA batteries offer similar hot-swappable convenience but lack the sleek design and premium materials of the Infinity Mouse. Disposable batteries also create unnecessary waste, making Angry Miao’s approach more sustainable.
More Than Just Specs – A Statement Piece
While many high-end gaming mice boast esports-level performance, the reality is that most users won’t notice a game-changing difference in their competitive results. However, the Infinity Mouse offers more than just raw performance—it’s a functional piece of art, blending cutting-edge specs with a truly innovative design.
For those seeking a lightweight, visually striking, and feature-rich gaming mouse, the AM Infinity Mouse delivers a combination of performance, aesthetics, and unique usability that few other gaming mice can match.
