Commissioner of Police (CP) Polly Namaye has returned to the Uganda Police Force after completing her 18-month tour in South Sudan.
She will serve as the deputy police spokesperson, replacing Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Claire Nabakka, who has taken up a role in the UN Mission in Juba, South Sudan.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed Namaye’s return during a press briefing on Monday, stating that she will oversee press-related matters as his deputy, while SSP Claire Nabakka will handle the police’s public relations.
Namaye joined the police force in 2007, completed her basic police training in 2008, and served as the regional police spokesperson for Mbarara Municipality from 2009 to 2014.
She was then transferred to the police head office, where she served as the Deputy-in-Command for the Press and Public Relations Office at the rank of Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police.
She was promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2016 and now holds the rank of Commissioner of Police, her experience and expertise in press and public relations will undoubtedly be valuable in her new role.
