Jim Muhwezi Pays Tribute to Bobby Kabonero, Calls His Death a Tragedy for Uganda
Kampala, Uganda – Security Minister Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi has described the untimely passing of Robert “Bobby” Kabonero, son of former diplomat Amb. Richard Kabonero, as a “tragedy” that has left the family and the country heartbroken.
Speaking at a vigil held in Kololo on Monday, Muhwezi shared heartfelt condolences with mourners gathered to honor the 24-year-old, who died on May 9 in a Nairobi hospital following a prolonged illness.
“Bobby’s passing is a tragedy. He had a bright future, he had dreams, and his family had dreams for him,” said Muhwezi. “His death reminds us that some things are beyond our control.”
A Call for Strength Through Faith
Muhwezi, whose wife Susan is the sister of Richard Kabonero, comforted the grieving parents and urged them to take solace in their faith during this difficult time.
“Richard and Grace, take heart. We may not understand God’s reasons, but we trust that He has a plan. Though it is mysterious to us, we must accept His will,” he added.
Nationwide Mourning
Bobby Kabonero’s death has drawn condolences from across Uganda’s political and social circles. He is being remembered as a young man full of potential, whose presence brought warmth and joy to many.
The vigil was marked by emotional speeches, family reflections, and a growing chorus of voices recognizing Bobby’s character, potential, and the void left by his early departure.
